JANET GOLDER KNGWARREYE

Janet Golder Kngwarreye, born in 1973 is an artist from Utopia in the Northern Territory, about 220kms north of Alice Springs.

Janet is married to fellow artist Ronnie Bird who is the son of acclaimed Aboriginal artist Ada Bird.

Janet comes from a kinship group filled with renowned Indigenous artists including the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye and Kudditji Kngwarreye, who influenced Janet’s artistic development.

Janet paints her depictions of her dreaming including, ‘Bush Leaves’, ‘Bush Yam’, ‘Bush Seeds’ and ‘Bush Berry’. All of these stories portrayed by Janet, draw focus on the sacred elements the earth has yielded for the Utopian community, which is unique to that area.

The colours used by Janet are both vivid and bold, incorporating detailed brush strokes which make the canvas come to life!
