  • Provenance: Joylene Reid Napangardi (b.1967) is an Indigenous Australian artist from the Central Desert region of the Northern Territory. She is part of the vibrant artistic tradition of Yuendumu, a community known for its significant contribution to the contemporary Aboriginal art movement. Her mother, Walangkura Napurrula and father, Kalara Tjapangati, are also successful artists.

Joylene is best known for her detailed and symbolic dot paintings that depict traditional Dreaming stories passed down through generations. These stories often relate to the natural environment, ancestral beings, and sacred sites, particularly those connected to her Napangardi skin group. Her work reflects a strong cultural identity and deep connection to Country.

She continues the legacy of the Warlpiri painting tradition, contributing to the preservation and sharing of Indigenous knowledge and storytelling through her art.
