    Tjungkara Ken was born in Amata in the APY Lands of South Australia in 1969 and is one of the five renowned 'Ken Sisters' who's painting was awarded the Wynne Prize in 2016.

    Tjungkara paints the stories of her Country including 'Seven Sisters Dreaming' which tells of a beautiful love story of the female and male ancestral spirit who fell in love when they created the landscape during the Dreamtime. When the male ancestor then had to return to the sky, the female spirit along with her sister travelled together through the sky to try and reconnect their sister to her lost love.

    Tjungkara is part of the Ken Sisters Collaborative (along with Yaritji Young, Freda Brady, Maringka Tunkin and Sandra Ken) who were awarded the Wynne Prize in 2016. She was also a finalist in the 2017 Archibald Prize and the 2019 Wynne Prize and is a repeat finalist in the prestigious Telstra Art Prize (2017, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2010). Tjungkara has exhibited widely throughout Australia and her works are represented in collections including the Art Gallery of South Australia, the National Gallery of Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria.
